Kill Switch: How It Protects Your Connection

⚙️ Tips & Configuration · Updated 2 weeks ago

What Does the Kill Switch Do?

The kill switch blocks all network traffic that does not go through the VPN tunnel. This prevents data leaks when the VPN connection drops unexpectedly.

What is Allowed?

  • Loopback (127.0.0.0/8) — Local services
  • LAN (10.x, 172.16.x, 192.168.x) — Local network, printers, NAS
  • WireGuard endpoint (UDP) — Connection to VPN server
  • VPN subnet — Traffic through tunnel
  • DHCP (UDP 67/68) — IP address assignment

Everything else is blocked.
