Share files, photos, texts and links from your phone or PC – with people, your own devices, a NAS folder or as a link, all through your own server.
About this plugin
This plugin shares files, photos, texts and links from your phone or PC. Send them to people on your GateControl server (the file arrives in the messenger chat), to your own devices (phone ↔ PC), to a drop folder on the NAS (Synology) or to outsiders as a link – optionally with a PIN and expiry after 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or one download. Public links are switched on by the administrator, and only administrators and family parents can create them.
Between your own devices in the same home network, files go directly over Wi-Fi/LAN, end-to-end encrypted and without passing the server. Otherwise they go through your own server.
On Android you share from the share menu of any app, on Windows with right-click → “Send to” → GateDrop, from the tray icon or by drag and drop. In the portal GateDrop has its own “Share” tab. Received files go to Downloads/GateControl, with a notification.
Everything stays on your own server. Files are deleted after 7 days, and each file can be up to 2 GB.
Requirements
- GateControl 1.193 or later
- The GateControl Android app 1.60 or the GateControl Windows client 1.37 (Pro) or 1.38 (Community) or later
- To send to people the “Messenger” plugin
- For NAS folders the “NAS (Synology)” plugin
- For parents’ rights the “Family” plugin
